MARK WARBURTON has been heartened with the well wishes he has received as he looks to lead Rangers back to the top of Scottish football.

The Light Blues boss presented Ibrox legend Bobby Brown with his award on Sunday night as the 92-year-old was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Hampden.

Warburton has made a positive start to life north of the border after moving to Rangers from Brentford alongside assistant David Weir in the summer and his side are huge favourites to win the Championship crown this term.

The Englishman has been tasked with restoring Rangers to their former glory and have them challenging for the top domestic honours and in Europe in the coming years.

And the Hampden ceremony provided further proof for Warburton of what he has inherited at Ibrox and the job on his hands.

He said: “It was great to hear the stories and a real privilege to be there meeting some really good people.

“Coming from down south you don’t know who the people are in the game but it’s nice to have nights like that to meet everyone like Davie Wilson and hear about Ally McLeod and so on.

“The club was mentioned on the stage time and time again. People talking about the last four or five years. You realise the significance of Rangers.

“People want it back. Everyone was saying they want the club back. It’s important to take that message to the players.

“Some people take it for granted, but you have people coming up to you and taking about the club, the work rate of the players and getting back to where we want to be.

“The players need to hear that. It’s a big responsibility, but you have to enjoy that responsibility.

“A lot of them were talking about the fans’ reaction on Saturday to being 1-0 down. They spoke about the fans reaction to losing 3-1 to St Johnstone.

“They are sensing a sea change and our job is to maintain that sea change.”
