MARK WARBURTON admits Kenny Miller is well on his way to landing a new Rangers deal thanks to his efforts on and off the park at Ibrox.

The striker has been a key part of the Light Blues squad this season as Warburton’s side have made a stunning start to the campaign.

Miller has expressed his desire to remain with the Gers beyond the end of his current contract next summer as he looks to play in the top flight once again.

And Warburton has hailed the attitude and professionalism of his experienced forward as he has made a significant impact this term.

He said: “The feedback to Tottenham from Nathan (Oduwa) and Dom (Ball) was that the best trainer and person to watch was Kenny. At 35, he sets a fantastic example.

“He has been there, he has done it and yet every day he is still the best he can be. For the young players, he is magnificent.

Glasgow Times: Rangers striker Kenny Miller

“It is different in Scotland from what I have seen and the discussions come slightly later. It is up to the players. They have to see that their efforts are being rewarded.

“Kenny is working really hard to that type of conversation. That is where we are at the moment. He is working hard every single day.

“When you get people like Frank McParland in, their job is to go and get the best quality available. But if we have got the quality here, all well and good.”
