MARK WARBURTON is pleased Danny Wilson has reacted the right way after a frustrating few weeks for the Rangers defender.

Wilson dropped out of the Light Blues starting line-up through injury last month and then missed out on a place in the squad for the Championship clash against St Mirren as Dominic Ball was given the nod to partner Rob Kiernan.

The former Hearts skipper lasted just an hour of the defeat to Hibernian last weekend as he struggled in the Capital but Warburton has backed his summer recruit to push for a berth again.

He said: “We have three centre halves, who are fighting for the shirt. I am sure you would agree, Danny and Rob came in, the first two signings, and did incredibly well for us. Danny got a slight injury, and Dom has come in.

“His challenge as always is to come in and keep the shirt. He has done that and I would have no hesitation to use any of them.

“I am all about rewarding guys who come in and take their chance then it is up to the other guys to fight back.

“Danny has been an outstanding pro. His season last year with Hearts and the way he has performed this year has been different class. He is only 23 years of age but shows a maturity beyond his years.

“If you have 25 or 27 guys in a squad, that means seven or eight guys not even on a coach, and we could never work that way.”
