MARK WARBURTON admits a half-time inquest was the inspiration to a 4-0 win for Rangers as the Light Blues moved three points clear at the top of the Championship.
Rangers were far from their best in the opening 45 minutes as they struggled to break down the Sons but were much improved after the break as they eased over the line.
And boss Warburton was pleased with the reaction from his side as they upped their game to get a key run of fixtures in the coming weeks off to a winning start.
He said: “We had a few words as a group [at half-time]. The first half, despite lots of possession, we weren’t good enough.
“We were loose, we took too many touches, we didn’t move it quickly enough and didn’t show the quality that we demand from the group day in, day out.
“We had words and I thought it was night and day. In the second half, I thought we were excellent. We could have got a lot more.
“It was very pleasing [to see a reaction]. We want the group to demand from themselves and solve problems and offer solutions on the pitch.
“We should have realised after 20, 25 minutes what we needed to do and that is us as a group improving. You won’t find a more honest, hard-working group.
“The quality is evident and you saw that in the second half. All over the park in the second half there were some really good performances.
“The two centre-halves (Rob Kiernan and Dominic Ball) were excellent. From a defensive perspective, they stepped in, won the ball and used it wisely. I was delighted.”
Having added another win to their tally and moved clear at the top of the table, Rangers will now turn their attentions to the trip to Raith Rovers this weekend.
The second tier title race looks set to go down to the wire this term as Hibs bid to keep on the heels of Warburton’s side in the coming weeks ahead of their Ibrox showdown on December 28.
Warburton said: “All we do now is focus on the next game. Everything we do is geared towards Raith, it has to be that way.
“There is no point in us looking at games two or three weeks down the line. We look at Raith, prepare for Raith.
“We will be well rested, we will recover well, train well, eat well, all the things we have to do and then on Saturday be ready for another good performance.”
The 53-year-old has been touted for a number of jobs south of the border already this season but has played down speculation that he could look to leave the Light Blues just months after his appointment at Ibrox.
Warburton said: “I can’t answer questions, very respectfully. I think I need some respect.
“I answered the question, it’s a disrespect to me, Rangers and Fulham, who I’m sure handle things in the right way
“I’m Rangers manager, I’ve brought staff in and developed a squad here. I think it’s disrespectful. I can’t keep answering the same question.”
