BARRIE MCKAY is poised to commit his future to Rangers and pen a new Ibrox deal.

The winger has been offered terms to extend his stay with Mark Warburton’s side after a superb start to the season in the Championship.

McKay has netted five times in 28 appearances for the Light Blues this term as he has become a key part of Rangers’ attacking line.

Midfield pair Andy Halliday and Jason Holt last week signed on the dotted line as they penned new deals to keep them at Ibrox until 2020.

McKay said “It is pretty close. Obviously I want to stay and they have offered me a deal. It is really close.

“Hopefully I can get it done as soon as possible and get myself tied down.

“The gaffer has told me I have been doing well enough to deserve it so I need to repay him and keep going.”

The arrival of Warburton in the summer has been the spark to McKay’s resurgence as the forward has shone under the Ibrox spotlight this term.

The 21-year-old spent time on loan at Raith Rovers and Morton in recent seasons as he fell down the Light Blues pecking order.

But he is now determined to repay Warburton for showing faith in him and giving him a chance to prove his worth in the Championship this term.

He said: "We all spoke to the manager when he came in and he said we wouldn't be held responsible for anything that happened in the past.

"He told us it was up to us to get hold of the jersey then keep it. Now I just need to keep going so that I can repay him for his faith in me.

"I've got a lot to thank him for. He's come in, given me that chance.

"I've played in every game this season and started most of them. That shows how much confidence he has in me."
