BILLY KING is confident he will fit into Mark Warburton’s Ibrox blueprint after clinching a loan deal to Rangers until the end of the campaign.

The winger became Warburton’s third signing of the January transfer window when he completed his switch from Hearts on Thursday night.

King could make his debut for the Gers against Falkirk on Saturday and he can’t wait to get down to business for the Championship title favourites.

He said: “The manager has come in and he has put his style on the squad and they have been playing really well so far.

“I have been watching some of the games and see players like Danny (Wilson) and Holty (Jason Holt) fitting in really well because it is a good passing style of play. That is the style of play that I like to play so hopefully I can fit in here as well.

Glasgow Times:

“The main focus here is to win the league and I can still play in the Petrofac Cup because I have not played in that this season, so that will be good.

“I have heard nothing but good things about them both (Warburton and David Weir). Everyone I have spoken to say that their style and the way they go about their business is very good so I just want to get started in training, give 100 per cent and see what happens.”

King has made 20 appearances for Hearts this season as he has helped Robbie Neilson’s side impress in their first campaign back in the Premiership.

Gorgie boss Neilson is keen for the 21-year-old to make the most of his time at Ibrox and King is confident he can play a starring role for Rangers this term.

“As most people know, I wasn’t getting that much game time at Hearts and I was getting a little frustrated. I asked the Gaffer if I could go on loan, and everything really just came about today (Thursday),” he told RangersTV.

“I’m delighted to be here, this is a massive club and it is a big opportunity for myself. I am on-loan until the summer, so hopefully I can make a big impression and we will see what happens then.

Glasgow Times: Rangers manager Mark Warburton

“I’ve come here with an open mind. I’ll work hard, do my best in training and give 100% to hopefully get into the team.

“At Hearts I played wide, but there the Gaffer usually only played one wide player, but here the manager likes to play two wide players and I think I have a good chance if I work hard in training and hopefully I will get a few games.

“I can play anywhere behind the striker too in the ‘hole’ position if you want to call it that, or I can play on the right or the left.”
