ROB KIERNAN reckons Rangers have shown a different side to their game as they have maintained their momentum in the Championship title race.

Mark Warburton’s side made it six successive second tier wins on Tuesday night as they saw off top four hopefuls Raith Rovers at Stark’s Park.

The Light Blues dominated for large spells of a low-key encounter but had to settle for just one goal on the night as Andy Halliday completed a neat move that saw Kenny Miller and James Tavernier split the Rovers defence just before the break.

Rangers have conceded just once in their last five league outings and Kiernan reckons they are in good shape ahead of the Scottish Cup clash with Kilmarnock this weekend.

He said: “It (the clean sheets) is pleasing for the team. That’s our main objective in the game - to build a platform to let the boys up top do their magic and score goals.

“We’ve got 13 games left now and we know what our objective is. We just need to perform and whether it is pretty or not we just need to win matches.

“Of course you have to see the finishing line. It’s our objective this season to get promoted and we can see the end of the season coming, there is only a few months left and we just need to keep our concentration and our focus.

“Each game is massive for us and we want to get there in the end.

“Ideally we’d like to score a lot of goals, we create chances and scoring goals is our objective.

“But sometimes it’s not pretty and you have to dig our results and that’s what we’ve shown recently.

“It (the Kilmarnock game) us another football match and we’ll go into it with confidence.

“We’ll respect them, they are good opposition and are obviously playing in the league above us, so they are going to be a harder test than usual.

“But we’ll have the same attitude going into it and will play our stuff and hopefully get the right result.”
