HARRY FORRESTER has set his sights on securing a unique treble for Rangers.

The 25-year-old admits that the possibility of lifting silverware was a major draw when he left Doncaster Rovers for Ibrox during the transfer window and he is open in admitting that he wants each of the three trophies the club are still battling for.

Rangers already have a date booked at Hampden to face Peterhead in the Petrofac Training Cup final on April 10, but they are also eight points clear in the Ladbrokes Championship and facing a William Hill Scottish Cup fifth round replay at Kilmarnock next week.

Forrester is looking forward to going back to Rugby Park, where he spent six months on loan in 2010, and is eager to secure the win that would set up another visit to the National Stadium for Rangers supporters.

“There are not many places you are going to go and be in that many cups or even have the chance to win a league,” said Forrester. “That was a big incentive when I signed here.

“It was almost a no-brainer to come and try to do that. We are doing well in the league. We have had a good run in the cup and you never know if we can beat Killie.

“I think the fans deserve a good day out at Hampden or whatever.”

Rangers assistant manager David Weir admits the league title remains the primary target for the Ibrox outfit, but he has also made it clear that a good run in the Scottish Cup is demanded.

Rangers drew 0-0 at home with Kilmarnock at the weekend. Weir knows, though, that there will be just as much pressure on the side to emerge triumphant from the replay.

“Any trophy you enter at Rangers, you are expected to win and this is no different,” said Weir in an interview with Rangers TV.

“The league is the number one prioirity and always is, but the cups are a very close second because we have all had the experiences of being involved in cup finals, semi-finals and big games.

“Rangers have to be involved in as many of those as they possibly can.”

Kris Boyd was kept on the bench by Kilmarnock’s caretaker manager Lee McCulloch when the Rugby Park side visited Ibrox.

Weir, however, has warned just how dangerous his former Rangers team-mate will be should he find himself given some game time next Tuesday night.

“His finishing ability is at the real top level,” said Weir. “There is no doubt about that. He has shown over many years that he scores goals if he gets opportunities and that does not go away.

“He is right at the top with regard to goalscoring.”
