MARK WARBURTON hopes to add two pieces of silverware to the Ibrox trophy cabinet before the Old Firm showdown at Hampden this month.

Rangers head to Raith Rovers this afternoon knowing victory will be enough to clinch the Championship crown if Hibernian slip-up away to St Mirren.

If Warburton’s side don’t get over the line in Kirkcaldy, they will then have another chance to complete The Journey when they host Dumbarton on Tuesday evening.

The Light Blues will then turn their attentions to the Petrofac Training Cup final against Peterhead next Sunday as they look to ensure they head into the Celtic clash on a high note.

And boss Warburton is determined to keep up the momentum this term as the Gers enter a crucial few weeks in their campaign.

He said: “Nobody wants to lose a game of football, that is for sure.

“We know the opportunity and it would be foolish to say they are not two very important games.

“[Raith] we know is a tough test but we have got a chance to go there and then set up Tuesday night in front of a packed Ibrox. That is really important to us.

“We would love to win it in front of our fans. If we get the job done early, fantastic. The job is to get the job done.

“That is the task and we can’t lose sight of the fact that we haven’t won anything yet.

“[Raith] will undoubtedly be a tough test and challenge. Prepare well, deliver the performance.

“The ideal scenario is that the results in the next two games go your way, you have a good performance in the Petrofac Cup final and that obviously leads into the semi-final. That is in an ideal world.

“Fingers crossed that happens but there is a lot of work to be done between now and then and we know that Saturday is against a team in fine form.

“They are delivering performances, they are hard to beat on their own patch. So we will recognise that and respond accordingly I hope.”

While Rangers are set to secure their Premiership place for next season, Raith still have promotion dreams of their own as they close in on a top four finish.

And Warburton knows his side can take nothing for granted ahead of a tricky trip to Stark’s Park.

He said: “I think it will be a really tough test. They are in form, their confidence will be high, they have good quality, they are well managed.

“It is a tough place to go to and all of these factors, we are well aware of them.

“Our job, as with the semi-final, as with the Petrofac, is to make sure that we prepare well, and we will do.”
