THE shortlist for the PFA Scotland Manager of the Year was announced this week and you have to say that all four candidates deserve their place on the list.

But, for me, it is Mark Warburton who should get the prize. I know people will say that they expect me to choose Mark, but he has done a very good job at Ibrox this season.

It is always tricky when the awards are given out before the end of the campaign but Mark has done what he set out to do, and more, with Rangers.

They were worthy winners of the Championship title and got over the line with a handful of games to go and he won the Petrofac Training Cup. He was expected to do both of those things, but few would have tipped Rangers to get to the Scottish Cup final and beat Celtic along the way.

When you consider the rebuilding job he had to do last summer and the way the team have played this season, he deserves a lot of credit for what he has done to date.

He is up against Jim McIntyre, Peter Houston and Jim McInally for the award and all three of them have done really well with their respective clubs this season.

Jim and Billy Dodds have taken Ross County into the top six, they could still finish fourth this year, and they won the League Cup. Both are terrific achievements for them.

I have said all along that Peter has done a great job with Falkirk. They have been in the hunt for promotion all through the season and they will certainly fancy their chances of getting up into the Premiership.

And Jim McInally has got Peterhead into the League One play-off positions and guided them to the Petrofac Training Cup final. So he deserves his place on the shortlist.

I think Mark deserves to win it, though. It has been a terrific season for Rangers so far, and hopefully there is still another success to come in the Scottish Cup.
