Joey Barton is set to face the club he was named Player of the Year for at the beginning of May, only months after leaving them to join the Gers.

Barton helped the Lancashire club earn promotion by scoring three goals and contributing three assists in 38 league appearances in 2015/16,

Rangers manager Mark Warburton said: “Burnley were very welcome visitors a year ago and gave us an enormously beneficial test for the season ahead.

“We look forward to again welcoming Sean Dyche, his staff and players for what we know will be a very tough challenge but one that helps both teams prepare for their respective campaigns.”
