STEWART ROBERTSON decided not to stand for election to the SPFL board this week and it will be Peter Lawwell, Ann Budge and Ian Maxwell who will be the Premiership representatives in the coming season.

Hibernian chief executive Leeann Dempster and Eric Drysdale from Raith Rovers will represent the Championship, while Ken Ferguson of Brechin has been put forward on behalf of the League One and League Two clubs.

Rangers are obviously confident that they can make their voice heard without anyone being on the board.

There is no doubt there is dialogue all the time between the top brass and the Old Firm. Stewart knew what he was doing at the time, or he wouldn’t have pulled out.

I am delighted that Ann is on the board and I have said that she should have a say in how our game has run on a few occasions.

Hearts have been really successful since she took over at Tynecastle and they will be looking to continue that progress in the coming months.

I am sure she will do a great job. She will have fresh ideas and that is important.

I would have liked to have seen Rangers represented and for the club to have a voice round that table when the key decisions are being made but there is no doubt that they will be kept informed of what is going on.

It is a decent board overall. We will see what impact they can make over the course of the season.
