JORDAN ROSSITER is looking forward to a ‘good battle’ with former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers as the Old Firm go head-to-head for the Premiership title.

The midfielder quit Anfield at the end of last season to make the move to Rangers and he will look to play a key role for Mark Warburton’s side in the top flight.

Rossiter has been joined north of the border by his former Reds boss after Rodgers replaced Ronny Deila at Parkhead earlier this summer.

And he is determined to prove his worth in Light Blue as the Gers set their sights on the Premiership crown in the coming months.

Rossiter said: “Obviously Brendan has managed in the Premier League, he is a good coach and he has got his way of playing.

“We have got a good way of playing as well so it is going to be a good battle. It will be interesting.

“Obviously I owe a lot to Brendan. He brought me into the team and gave me my chance but I owe a lot to the gaffer here because he showed faith in me. I am really looking forward to playing under him.

“You want to beat every team in the league and with Celtic being Rangers’ main rivals you always want to beat them.

“I owe a lot to Brendan. I was only young at the time at Liverpool, I was still coming up and learning my way. I am looking forward to it.”
