JOEY BARTON hopes the critical and analytical nature of the Rangers squad will drive Mark Warburton’s side to success this season.
The Light Blues will begin their bid for the Premiership title against Hamilton Accies on Saturday after four Betfred Cup wins already this term.
Barton will be expected to play a starring role following his move from Burnley this summer and the midfielder said: “They are a really exciting, energetic bunch of lads. They train at a good intensity and they take on board what everyone is saying.
“I think sometimes they might be a little bit too critical of themselves which I find surprising. They are probably their own harshest critics but I think you have to be that as a player.
“You have to be able to look at your strengths and weaknesses and look to improve, but I think we’ve got everything we need in this group if we are going to be competitive this season.”
