JOE GARNER admits Rangers must find a clinical edge to their play after paying the price for their profligacy at Pittodrie.

Mark Warburton’s side lost 2-1 to Aberdeen on Sunday as their poor run of Premiership form continued in the North East.

It has been a disappointing few weeks for the Light Blues as they have fallen seven points adrift of Old Firm rivals Celtic in the Premiership title race.

Warburton’s side were again left with nothing to show for their efforts against the Dons as Jonny Hayes scored just after the break and James Maddison hit a spectacular late winner.

Andy Halliday had given Rangers hope when he converted from the penalty spot but it was another day to forget for the Gers as they failed to make the most of a host of promising positions.

Garner came close on a couple of occasions but couldn’t find the net as Derek McInnes’ side left it late to inflict another defeat on the Ibrox outfit.

He said: "The gaffer spoke about that in the dressing room. We have played well and it is tough to take, very difficult to take, that we lost.

“They finished second last year and we have dominated the game, especially the first half.

“We were unfortunate not to come in with a lead. The goal is obviously massive for them coming as it did so soon after half-time.

"Personally I don't think [there is anything about the league that has surprised me], no.

“I think it is what I expected - a physical league where teams sit behind the ball, sit back against Rangers and try and nick a goal. That is something we need to look at as a team. “Once they get the goal they sit back even more and it is more difficult. The first goal is massive. It is just one of things.

“I think it is something we have to work on and will work on this week.

“We need to turn all the possession and the good football into goals and it is something that we will be working on."
