LEE WALLACE didn’t play a minute of the matches against Lithuania and Slovakia as Gordon Strachan picked Andy Robertson and Kieran Tierney ahead of him.

It will have been frustrating for him to not get on the park but he is in an area of the team where Scotland are strong at present and the manager has good options.

Only Lee will know whether he still wants to make himself available for selection but I think if you can be involved then it is wonderful to be there.

It can be good to get away from your club for a few days and to go and train with Scotland. It can benefit a player and help his game but, of course, you want to play as well.

It looks like Robertson and Tierney will be the first two picks but if there are injuries and suspensions then Lee is more than capable of performing for his country.

He is still a relatively young man and if I was him I would certainly give it until the end of the campaign before considering his future.

If he can’t get into the side over the next few months then, as he approaches 30, he might think that he won’t get a chance and it would be best to focus on Rangers.

It is always nice to be recognised and to represent Scotland. Lee missed out for three or four seasons while he was in the lower leagues.

I don’t think he is going to chuck it right now. He should at least stick with it until the end of the campaign.

If then he feels that it is not the best thing for him and for Rangers then he might decide that it is time to take a step back from it.
