MARTYN WAGHORN insists Rangers won’t change their attacking approach as they look to make amends for their demolition derby defeat to Celtic.

Mark Warburton’s side crashed to a 5-1 loss at Parkhead last month as their Premiership title dreams suffered another blow.

The Light Blues have a chance to kick-start their faltering campaign when they face their Old Firm rivals for the second time at Hampden tomorrow.

A place in the Betfred Cup final is at stake and Waghorn is confident the Gers can emerge victorious by sticking to their tried and trusted blueprint.

He said: “We won’t change for anyone. The manager has a framework he likes and we stick by it.

“As players we stick by it too. We know what we’re doing and how we want to play.

“It’s important the good players know how we press from the front and the defence presses high

“It’s important we’re on the same page because when we limit chances and passes forward in between the lines then we can counter that.

“We have to be on the same wavelength and progress throughout the season.

“The intensity of our play [was right in the semi-final last year]. We were brave on the ball and played out from the back. I don’t think Celtic were ready.

“At Parkhead the tempo was down for a number of reasons – it just wasn’t us.

“We’ve learned to play high energy and tempo – that’s what Rangers are about, that’s what the gaffer has instilled in us and we learned a lot about ourselves that day.”

If Rangers are to overcome Brendan Rodgers’ side at the National Stadium, boss Warburton will need a far better showing from his players than the one they produced at Parkhead.

The signs have been more promising for the Gers in recent weeks as they have overcome Partick Thistle and Inverness on league duty.

Striker Kenny Miller hit his 100th goal for the club in the Highlands last Friday night and Waghorn is confident there is plenty more to come from the 36-year-old as he looks to fire Rangers to silverware success this season.

He said: “Kenny's been fantastic from the first minute I came in. He's guided us through playing for Rangers.

“He's an experienced guy who's been here and done that and I'm absolutely delighted for him. He thoroughly deserves it for the work he puts in, day in and day pout on the training pitch.

“It's no surprise that he's still going on stronger than ever. He's some guy and for a team with such a young squad it's important that we have someone like him around and I've got nothing but good things to say about Kenny.”
