MARK WARBURTON spoke this week about looking to bring in an attack minded midfielder during the January transfer window but I think there are still other areas that need addressed first.

If he can get Matt Crooks and Jordan Rossiter up to fitness and get them going this season then I think we are OK in the middle of the park and he has a few options to choose from.

What we don’t have in the squad is a bigger centre forward. I know some managers don’t like having a more physical striker in the side but, for me, when you are getting hemmed in at the back, you want someone that you can hit up front.

Also, when the full-backs are getting forward or the wingers are getting to the line, they are looking up and there is nobody for them to get the ball into at times.

I don’t care about a forward that can drop deeper or come out into the wide areas. I want one that is inside the box, one that can poach and that you know will get you 20 goals a season.

That is what Rangers need. Right now, could you say any Rangers striker will get 20 goals this season?

It is not looking likely and for a club like Rangers that is not good enough. We know that goals have been a problem this season and solving that issue should be the priority in January.

I have said often enough that I would like to see a no-nonsense centre-half, one whose first priority is to defend and not to pass the ball.

But we need a striker who is more of a poacher, someone who you can rely on to get you goals week in week out.
