CLINT HILL reckons Rangers showed the perfect response to their Tynecastle turmoil as they beat second spot rivals Aberdeen at Ibrox.

Mark Warburton’s side got back to winning ways on Saturday as goals from Kenny Miller and Lee Hodson clinched a deserved Premiership win.

Victory over the Dons moved the Light Blues back up the top flight standings just days after they slumped to defeat against Hearts.

An injury time header from Andy Considine was only a consolation for the visitors but the red card shown to Hill was a huge disappointment for Rangers after another impressive defensive showing.

The 38-year-old was pleased with a good day at the office, though, as the Gers dug deep to get a crucial Premiership win on the board.

Hill told RangersTV: “We took criticism and rightly so against Hearts. We didn’t turn up on the night and didn’t show anything like we could do.

“[Saturday] was all about the response. I don’t think we played our usual possession-based football – I think we showed a different side to our game.

“We were more direct, committed, and I think you could see that, especially at the end when they all got involved to try and protect each other.

“So it was a very pleasing performance from everybody. We are gutted we lost out on the clean sheet, and Wes was saying about it there and rightly so.

“We are thankful the referee blew his whistle right after their goal, but all-in-all, it was a good, solid performance, a great response from the lads and a massive three points for the club.

“It is a big scalp to take. Aberdeen v Rangers is always a big fixture.

“I don’t think they have won here in a few years as well so to keep that run going is massive.

“It keeps us in a nice position to be challenging towards the end of the season, which we want. We want to be in the mix.

“It is a fantastic result. We will enjoy it for a few days and then go again against Hearts next weekend.”
