JAMES TAVERNIER admits Rangers have got a score to settle when they face Hearts at Ibrox this afternoon.

The Light Blues were beaten 2-0 by the Jambos last week as a Robbie Muirhead double clinched victory for Robbie Neilson in his final game in charge.

Tavernier dropped out of the Gers starting line-up for the visit of Aberdeen seven days ago as Mark Warburton’s side got back to winning ways with a deserved 2-1 triumph.

Rangers are two points clear of the Hearts and Dons in the battle to clinch the best of the rest spot in the Premiership this term.

And Tavernier is determined to take another step in the right direction when Ian Cathro takes charge for the first time at Ibrox.

He said: “Against Hearts, we know we didn’t play well. When we played Aberdeen at Pittodrie, we didn’t feel we got the result we deserved.

“But we have beaten Aberdeen at home and now we’ve got Hearts on our own pitch where we have a great record. So that second spot is definitely a place we can grab.

“You always have a point to prove against any team you have dropped points against or not played well against in the previous meeting.

“They are coming to our place now, so we definitely have a point to prove to our fans that we can beat Hearts.”
