OLIVER BURKE is determined to bounce back from his Scotland setback and earn a starting spot under Gordon Strachan once again.

The winger was dropped from Strachan's side for the trip to Slovakia in October after the Dark Blues were held to a 1-1 draw by Lithuania at Hampden.

Burke then had to settle for a spot on the bench for the Auld Enemy clash with England the following month as the Three Lions ran out comfortable winners.

Scotland face Slovenia in a World Cup qualifier on March 26 and the RB Leipzig forward is eager to be involved once again.

He said: “Of course it’s disappointing [to be dropped] but I’m just very happy to be there. I’m still young and to be with the first team international squad is a great feeling and a great achievement for me.

“I’ll keep showing what I’m capable of and, when I get the call, if I get the call, we’ll see what happens and do my very best for the team.

“It’s not nice when you get missed out of the squad but that’s football. That’s the manager’s decision. I can only stick by that.

“I’m just happy to be there. Being part of the team is still a good feeling.

“Of course [I want to make up for missing out at Wembley]. Maybe I can be in with a shout to actually play.”
