Scottish football fans, Rangers fans in particular, were given an eye-opening view of the German juggernaut that is RB Leipzig at the weekend.

Mark Warburton took his team over to the Red Bull Arena followed by 8000 supporters only to see them hammered 4-0 by the side currently sitting second in the Bundesliga.

They are up there on merit, the table doesn't lie.

Someone asked me before the game on Twitter if you could compare Leipzig to Celtic. I said: 'Sorry, the second best team in the Bundesliga is better than anything in our country.'

They wiped the floor with Rangers and wiped the floor with them, but nobody should be astonished by that.

They are very well coached, they are one of the best pressing and counter attacking teams about in Europe. We are talking a very high standard.

It was only going to be a mismatch between two teams at a similar stage of the second half of the season.

Nobody should read too much into it. It shouldn't have any sort of impact on Rangers now, it just may be that they chose the wrong opponents.

If Leipzig were in Europe at the moment, I'd say they would go pretty far in the Europa League. There time in that arena surely isn't far away.
