Motherwell midfielder Chris Cadden admits a William Hill Scottish Cup run would dwarf his joy at winning last season's Scottish Youth Cup.

But the 20-year-old is not getting ahead of himself with Rangers to face at Ibrox in the fourth round on Saturday.

Cadden got a brief respite from first-team duties to play an influential role in Motherwell Under-20s' 5-2 Hampden triumph over Hearts last season and now he gets the chance to embark on a higher-profile campaign.

"It was good last year with the 20s boys winning the cup but if we went on a cup run with Motherwell it wouldn't be any comparison with last year, it would be absolutely fantastic," he said.

"It's long overdue a cup run for Motherwell but we don't really think about a cup run, we just concentrate on Saturday and see what happens."

Motherwell have only one Scottish Cup tie in the past four seasons, and that was against Highland League side Cove Rangers.

But Cadden is not overawed by the prospect of facing the Glasgow version.

"That's what you want, the big games and Ibrox is the type of stage you want to play at," said Cadden, fresh from victory over Rangers' Barrie McKay in a FIFA 17 contest at the Scottish Football Museum's new EA Game Zone.

"All the boys are looking forward to it. I live in Motherwell so, speaking to the fans, and my mates are Motherwell fans, and they are all looking forward to it.

"Rangers is always going to be a tough task especially away from home but we will try to do our best to upset them and get in their faces and hopefully get a wee result."

Cadden is fully fit after sitting out the Hogmanay derby against Hamilton following calf and hamstring problems.

"The winter break has helped me," he said. "I did stuff with the physios and got up to fitness and have trained all week."
