DANNY WILSON is confident Rangers winger Barrie McKay won’t let speculation over his future have an impact on his performances on the park.
The winger is out of contract at the end of next season and has yet to commit his future to the Light Blues.
McKay has once again been an integral part of Mark Warburton’s side this term and has netted three goals in 28 appearances.
Wilson burst onto the scene in 2009 as he emerged from the Auchenhowie youth ranks and impressed at the heart of the Ibrox defence at home and abroad.
He would pen a three-year deal with Liverpool the following summer but struggled to make an impact at Anfield.
McKay is the latest Gers kid to shine in the first team arena and Wilson believes he will continue to impress in the Ibrox attack.
He said: "I wouldn't give him any advice because I think that everyone's situation is completely different.
“Quite a lot of the time you see young players linked with moves here, there and everywhere and there's always someone who thinks you should do this or that. It's not my business. It's Barrie's.
“It didn't affect him at all. Other than Kenny's goals, he was the outstanding player on the park so if he can keep doing that he will be fine.
"I don't think it did [affect me] at the time. I can understand why it does.
“I don't want to use the cliché that I was just happy to play football, but I was. I was young and enjoying being involved with the first team.
“Everything else wasn't that important to me, I just wanted to get on with it and I am sure Barrie will just do the same.
“He's contracted here for another year-and-a-half and I am sure he will just carry on doing what he does. There has been speculation, but he will just get on with it."
