PHILIPPE SENDEROS admits he will have to raise his game if he is to retain his place at the heart of the Rangers defence.

After several weeks out of action, the Swiss stopper returned to the starting line-up in what proved to be Mark Warburton’s final match in charge against Ross County a fortnight ago.

He then kept his spot for the Scottish Cup win over Morton last weekend as Under-20 boss Graeme Murty paired him alongside Clint Hill at Ibrox.

Murty will again be in charge of the Light Blues when they face Dundee on Sunday and Senderos is determined to build on his last two outings.

When asked if he was happy with his performances against County and the Ton, Senderos told RangersTV: “No – I think I can do better. It has been four months without a game, and maybe I need a bit of time, although I know we don’t have time at Rangers as it is such a massive club.

“I need to step up, and every one of us needs to step up and do better and hopefully get the three points in the next game.

“I always worked hard and I was waiting for it (his chance). What I want is to be here and play games – I don’t want to just be here and be part of the squad.

“So I have been pushing, I have been knocking on the door and eventually my chance came.

“So I am really happy about that, but now I need to put in the performances to stay in the team.”
