FORMER Liverpool coach Michael Beale has backed Jordan Rossiter to fulfil his potential at Rangers once he has overcome his injury problems.

The midfielder has made just six appearances for the Light Blues this term and has spent several months out of action.

Beale worked with a string of Reds protégés during his stint as Under-23 boss and believes Rossiter can go from strength to strength in the future.

He told Sky Sports: "Something which is sometimes overlooked is that the club have brought in £32m from selling, Jordon Ibe, Brad Smith, Jerome Sinclair, Sergi Canos, Rossiter and Joao Teixeira. That's a good income for the club.

"But Rossiter is an outstanding young player, he just needs a bit of time. I was expecting a big year for him at Rangers but for whatever reason - and he's had injuries - it hasn't happened for him.

"But his mentality is unique, in terms of the type of boy he is, the drive he has, the ambition. I expect Jordan to come back and have a very good career."
