KENNY MILLER admits everyone at Ibrox is playing for their Rangers future as he targets a new Light Blues deal this summer.

The striker is out of contract at the end of the campaign but talks over fresh terms were put on hold while the Gers board searched for Mark Warburton’s successor in recent weeks.

Miller has played down the prospect of moving into the dugout alongside new boss Pedro Caixinha just yet and is determined to still be spearheading the Portuguese’s forward line next term.

Miller said: “I am saying as a player alone because that is what my sole focus is. If other things are asked of you then at this stage of your career you have got to look at it in more detail and see if it is going to be beneficial.

“Any role that I am going to be in, whether it be here or somewhere else, I want to be a player and I don’t want it to affect my selection on a Saturday.

“In terms of what has been talked about, I have not heard anything and there is nothing to comment on. My take on it is still the same and I see my future in positions like that.

“At the moment, if it is to be sooner rather than later, I would still have to be a player.

“I think things for me personally could have went better, as they could have for the club as well. I do believe I have had a decent level of consistency in my performances this season. I want to be here.

“What you are going to get from me is not going to be a surprise. I still feel I can, and am, contributing on the field every week. I hope I am but sometimes these things are taken out of your hands.”

Caixinha will take charge of his side for the first time when Rangers face Hamilton Accies this afternoon and look to build on their Old Firm draw last weekend.

And Miller knows every member of the Light Blues squad has a point to prove to their new boss as the 46-year-old looks to lay the foundations for a shot at the Premiership next term.

He said: “It goes for everyone at the club whether you have got a contract or not, you are fighting for your future really.

“When a new manager comes in, he has got his own thoughts on the game so he is going to look and see if these players can fit in to how he wants to play.

“If there are guys that can’t, whether you have got a contract or not, I am sure he will be looking for guys who can. It is important that everyone works hard in the next two or three months for us to achieve as a team.

“If we achieve what the manager wants us to in terms of how he wants us to play, hopefully for me that means I am going to be here next year.

“The rest of the lads, whether you have got a contract or not, you have still got to convince this manager that you have got a role to play at this club.”
