IF Scotland don’t beat Slovenia on Sunday, I think it is inevitable that the manager will go.

With the greatest respect to Gordon, he was fortunate after the last campaign that he still had the job and there is already a clamour for change.

The fans are looking for someone fresh to come in and bring some younger players through into the side. Give them a chance and see if they are good enough.

If you look at the team that played against Canada, how many would you start at Hampden? I thought Tom Cairney looked the part and did well, as did Ikechi Anya at right-back.

But it wouldn’t surprise me if there are eight or nine changes to the team for the game tomorrow night. There should be because we were far from good enough.

I can understand why Gordon took the game because he wanted a look at the players and it was a chance for a few to make an impression and get themselves into the team.

Unfortunately he doesn’t have many options. That is what he is up against. We just do not have the players right now.

The two basics in football are defending and scoring goals and Scotland can do neither.

We tried four different strikers against Canada and you couldn’t make a centre forward out of one of them on the night.

At the other end, the defence wasn’t good enough either. The only one that did OK was Anya and he gave us a bit of energy up and down the right side.

As a nation, we have got one of the worst squads we have had right now. We can’t expect to qualify because we just don’t have the tools.

A lot of fans have already given up hope of qualifying. Lose at home tomorrow and the calls for change will surely get louder.
