RANGERS have launched their Player of the Year nominations and for me there are only two candidates – Kenny Miller and Clint Hill.

Kenny has been a standout this season but Clint is not far behind him. He maybe started the season a bit slower but he has really come onto a game.

The defence has taken a bit of criticism once again this year but he has certainly proven himself. He talks to the players around him and they are listening to what he is saying.

Some people would say it is a sad indictment on the squad that the two best players are 37 and 38 respectively, but you have to give them both credit for performing at the level they have done. They don’t focus on their age, they just get on with their jobs.

Too many players have underperformed and underachieved this season. A lot of them now have the last few weeks of the campaign to prove that they deserve to be here next year.

They have to impress the new manager or they could find themselves shipped out in the summer but I don’t think Kenny has a point to prove. I hope he and Clint both get new contracts because they thoroughly deserve them.

Pedro Caixinha will want to bring his own players in but Kenny and Clint have been mainstays this season and I think he should try and keep them.

Both have performed consistently this season and they will both have a big part to play as we look to finish second in the Premiership and win the Scottish Cup in the next few weeks.

Come the summer, hopefully they are rewarded with new deals. And Kenny should also pick up the Player of the Year prize as well.

I think Kenny should get it and he is my choice, but Clint deserves to be recognised for his efforts this season.
