MARTYN WAGHORN insists he has never been happier in football as he looks to continue his Ibrox career next season.

The striker has failed to recapture his form from last term but has still netted 15 times for Rangers in recent months.

Boss Pedro Caixinha is continuing to assess his squad ahead of his first full campaign in Light Blue and he will be given funds to add to his ranks before the big kick-off later this year.

Waghorn has featured in all four matches under Caixinha and will hope to retain his starting spot when the Gers face Partick Thistle this afternoon.

Talks over an extension to his Ibrox deal stalled earlier in the season but the 27-year-old is determined to prove his worth and remain part of Caixinha’s plans.

He said: “Nothing at the minute. I am just focusing on playing and staying in the team and that is all I can do at the minute.

“I have still got 15 months left on it. There is no rush. I am more than happy here.

“I have enjoyed playing and having a run in the team. So hopefully it is something that can get addressed.

“I would love to stay. I love this place. I am enjoying challenging for trophies.

“Listen, I have never been so happy at a club. If something comes about, great, if not I am more than happy playing for this club at the minute.

“I am guessing he is judging everyone. Everyone is playing for their place in the squad just like me.

“I am trying to do my best. I am trying to stay in the team and do as well as I can for the club. Whatever happens, happens.

“But, as I say, I am more than happy being here. I am really enjoying my football and I am enjoying where the club is going. Hopefully I can be a part of that.”
