DANNY WILSON insists the chance to kill off Celtic’s Treble dream won’t be an added motivation for Rangers at Hampden.

Pedro Caixinha’s side head into tomorrow’s Scottish Cup semi-final showdown with their sights set on the silverware after a poor Premiership campaign.

But victory for Celtic would put them within touching distance of a domestic clean sweep in Brendan Rodgers’ first year at Parkhead.

Rangers clinched a deserved share of the spoils in the fourth derby clash of the season last month despite being written off in many quarters.

And Wilson is determined to emerge victorious at the National Stadium to give the Light Blue legions a reason to be cheerful this term.

He said: “Over the course of the 90 minutes, we have shown in the last game that we can compete with them.

“Over the course of the season, there is a gulf there and the points suggest that and the league position suggest that. I don’t like to get drawn into that and use that as a motivating factor.

“You are playing for Rangers against Celtic in the semi-final of a cup and if that is not motivation enough then you shouldn’t be here.

“We have got an opportunity to get to a final. We were all disappointed to not win the cup last year so hopefully we can get back there.

“I don’t know [if there will be a reaction from Celtic]. I honestly couldn’t tell.

“They will be in a similar situation to us. There is a cup final at stake. We are all motivated as footballers to play in cup finals.

“We have to beat them to get there. That is our motivation and I am sure it is theirs as well.

“Anything that has gone on in the past doesn’t really matter. Sunday is all that is important.

“The chance to get to a cup final is all that is in our minds. If we manage to get there then it obviously stops that (the Treble), but that is not in our heads.

“Our heads are just focused on Sunday, winning the match and getting through.”

Rangers saw off their Old Firm rivals at the last four stage twelve months ago before going on to lose the final to Hibernian.

Celtic will once again be strong favourites to progress tomorrow but Wilson knows anything can happen on derby day in Glasgow.

He said: “Cup games are always that one off. We have played them so many times this season, but we just look forward to the game, we look forward to the occasion.

“These are the games you want to play in when you come to Rangers. I look forward to the game on Sunday.”
