JASON HOLT is determined to banish the memories of Old Firm defeat and help Rangers end a disappointing campaign with a winning run.

The Light Blues saw their Scottish Cup dreams dashed at Hampden as Celtic ran out comfortable winners to move within 90 minutes of a Treble.

Brendan Rodgers’ side travel to Ibrox on Saturday for the final derby duel of the season with an unbeaten league run in their sights.

But midfielder Holt knows there is plenty at stake for Pedro Caixinha and his players as they bid for a much-needed Old Firm win.

He told RangersTV: “The only real positive is we have the game against them so quickly after losing to them. It gives us a chance to go and do the right things and put it right.

“We are desperate to do that. There are many things we need to do better and things we have worked on this week. We’ll try to put them into the game.

“We look back probably with disappointment that we never challenged in the way we would have liked to. Even now sitting in third place, that’s a huge disappointment too.

“We wanted to challenge and the minimum was second place. So that’s a real disappointment for us and we want to finish the season as strong as we can and build and continue the momentum into next season.

“Every game you go into, you want to take the maximum out of it, and these last five games are no different.

“Yes, we’re coming to the end of the season but it makes no difference to us. It’s still full steam ahead.

“It would be great to qualify for Europe as there aren’t many in our squad at the moment who have tasted European football.

“For myself it would be great and there is still work to be done this season to achieve that, so we will keep working on it and if it happened, it would be great to bring European football back to Ibrox and have the great nights there again.

“When you have the chance to play European football, you are willing to do whatever it takes to achieve that. “
