WES FODERINGHAM: No chance at Thistle’s opener, but did well to save from Edwards at close range soon after. Good tip over from Lawless header. 7

JAMES TAVERNIER: Tried to provide an outlet on the right, and looked a lot more dangerous in the second half after being pushed up into a wing-back role. 7

DAVID BATES: Allowed Doolan to run off him to open the scoring, but was generally sound after that and was dominant in the air when required. 6

DANNY WILSON: Slip almost allowed Doolan to score, but didn’t do much else wrong before a collision with his own man forced him to limp off. 6

MYLES BEERMAN: Tried his best to support the attack when he could, but spent most of the opening hour on the back-foot before being pushed forward in the tactical reshuffle 6

JASON HOLT: Sitting deep at the base of the midfield, but range of passing wasn’t of the level required and failed to dictate the tempo of the game. Full of endeavour, but little else 5

JOSH WINDASS: Seemed unclear as to what his role was as he ran around a lot in midfield without particularly achieving much. 5

MARTYN WAGHORN: Use of the ball was dreadful in the opening period, and was hooked for Clint Hill just before the hour. The loud cheer that accompanied that move told you everything about Waghorn’s afternoon 4

KENNY MILLER: Tried hard as always but not involved nearly enough in attacking areas for Rangers’ liking. Unusually quiet afternoon from the veteran until a moment of brilliance late on set up Garner for the winner 6

JOE DODOO: Got into good areas early on, but too often dithered when it came to the final cross or taking a shot on. Looks bereft of confidence. 4

JOE GARNER: Thought he had scored with a near-post flick early on that went just wide, but nothing else of note until popping up at the death with a well-placed header to snatch the win 6

SUBS

CLINT HILL: On just before the hour to marshal a back three and pushed Rangers up the park. 5

JAMIE BARJONAS: On for his debut after Danny Wilson picked up an injury with 20 minutes to go and showed some nice touches 5

BARRIE MCKAY: Thrown on for the last 15 minutes to try and salvage something for Rangers and duly delivered, slipping through a challenge and finishing coolly under Cerny for the equaliser. Provided a spark 7
