Former Rangers boss Mark Warburton is convinced Jason Cummings has a ‘very bright future’ and can ‘make an impact’ in English football with Nottingham Forest.

Cummings completed his seven-figure switch to the Championship outfit at the weekend after making good on his pledge to help shoot Hibs back to the top-flight.

The 21-year-old was a signing target for Warburton when he was still in charge at Rangers, with the prolific marksman having won admirers with 71 goals in 148 appearances.

And, despite admitting the Scotland under-21 cap faces a fight on his hands for game-time south of the border, Warburton believes the striker has the deter-mination to succeed at the City Ground.

The Forest manager said: “We are delighted to welcome Jason to the club. He has a good record in Scotland and he is a player with a very bright future.

“We want to secure young, hungry players and Jason fits that mould perfectly.

“We are delighted to welcome him to the club and we are looking forward to working with him going forward.

“Jason knows that there is good competition for places here at Nottingham Forest and he will be keen to show what he can do in pre-season.

“It is a challenge for him but I am sure it is one that he will be relishing and we believe he will be able to make an impact in English football.”
