STEWART ROBERTSON believes Rangers have appointed a ‘man of vision’ after confirming Mark Allen as their new Director of Football.

SportTimes revealed last week that Allen was the top choice for the Light Blues board as they finalised their new-look off-field structure at Ibrox.

The 54-year-old leaves his position as Academy Director at Manchester City to make the move north of the border ahead of the new campaign.

And Gers Managing Director Robertson is confident Allen will be a real asset for the club as he gets set to work closely with the Ibrox hierarchy and manager Pedro Caixinha.

Robertson told rangers.co.uk: “We are delighted Mark has agreed to move to Glasgow and become our new Director of Football.

“He is a man of vision who has achieved great success with Manchester City’s Academy. He has excellent contacts in football but also the business world and he will be a great asset to Rangers.

“We said we would not rush into an appointment as we wanted the right candidate and we feel Mark is the best man for the job.

"We look forward to working with him closely in the years ahead in what will be an important role at the Club.”
