THE draw for the first two rounds of the Europa League were made in Nyon on Monday and Rangers now know who they will face when they return to action next week.

Progres Niederkorn are a side that not many people know much about but Pedro Caixinha won’t be taking anything for granted here.

A lot of Rangers fans have said to me that ‘at least that is us through to the next round’. And I say three words to them: Lincoln Red Imps.

Nobody had heard of them twelve months ago but they beat Celtic in the first leg of their Champions League qualifier and that shows you that anything can happen on any given day.

In the end, Celtic were too strong and they got through the tie. You would expect Rangers to do the same here and set up a meeting with AEL Limassol or St Josephs.

But we have to earn the right to be in the second round. So Pedro won’t be thinking that this is an easy fixture and he will be demanding everything from his side right from the first whistle at Ibrox.

Progres are a team that are bidding for a scalp and they will be looking at Rangers and hoping that it takes the new players time to settle. They will hope it takes us a while to get up to speed and that opens the door for a shock.

Rangers can avoid that by making sure they are at it straight away, by preparing for the game correctly and going into it with the right attitude.

The new lads have to know that Rangers are a huge club and everyone wants to beat us, so this is a test of their mentality straight away. It is one they should pass.
