PEDRO CAIXINHA made just two changes from the side that drew with Marseille for the friendly win over Watford on Wednesday evening as Jak Alnwick and Josh Windass came into the team.

Looking ahead to this weekend, I think the line-up against Sheffield Wednesday will be the one that starts against Motherwell in the Premiership opener.

Results are great and they give everyone a boost, including the fans, who will be glad to see that things are picking up again after the defeat to Progres Niederkorn.

But these games are about getting the right system and I am glad to see Pedro has gone with a 4-4-2 formation in both matches. I think that is the way to go for Rangers because we need more players in the box and in scoring positions.

If Kenny Miller is in the team, I want to see him in the final third and not dropping back into his own half, as he did for most of last season. He should be up there playing alongside another striker.

It looks like 4-4-2 may be the way that Pedro will go this season but that doesn’t mean he can only stick to that one system. It has to be horses for courses and if it is not working then he has to change it.

Rangers are far from where they want to be, of course, but they have moved on since Progres and that is what the fans wanted to see.

I think they will be pleased by the last week but we have got another difficult game against Sheffield Wednesday and it will be interesting to see how the team lines-up and shapes up.

There was a real downer after the European exit but thousands of fans will make the trip to Hillsborough and hopefully they get another reason to be optimistic going into the new Premiership campaign.
