LEE HODSON admits Pedro Caixinha’s will to win has rubbed off on the Rangers squad as the Portuguese looks to bring success back to Ibrox this season.

It has been a mixed start to the campaign so far for the Light Blues after a significant turnaround in players during the summer.

The addition of the likes of Bruno Alves and Graham Dorrans were key moves for Caixinha as he has assembled a new-look squad for his first full campaign in charge.

And defender Hodson is confident the Gers will get better with time this term as everyone at Ibrox strives for further improvement.

He said: “I think you have to be positive to push forward. The manager is very positive, very passionate and we thrive off that.

“His passion to win rubs off on the players and he wants us to be right behind him and I think that has shown.

“Bruno coming in has been a boost to the squad with the experience that he has had. He has played at the highest level and he is a great addition to the squad.

“Everyone is getting to know each other. There are new signings coming in and it just doesn’t happen overnight.

“You need time to gel as a squad, for everyone to get to know each other and how each individual plays.

“It has taken a little bit of time but I think we are getting to where we want to be and we can still carry on improving and keep getting better.”

Caixinha has added nine players to his Ibrox ranks so far this summer and remains on the lookout for another couple of recruits to finalise his Gers blueprint.

It is the move for compatriot Alves that has been the highest profile deal so far as the Portuguese defender agreed a two-year deal after leaving Serie A side Cagliari.

Alves has partnered Fabio Cardoso at the heart of the Rangers rear guard since making his debut in the friendly draw with Marseille last month.

And full-back Hodson is eager to listen to the former Porto, Zenit and Fenerbahce star to help him improve his own game this term.

“I can learn a lot,” he told the Official Rangers Podcast. “Bruno has played at the highest level in international football, won trophies, won the Euros.

“I always look up to older pros, people that have played more games than me and defenders because I can always add things from my game that I need to improve on.

“I can get guidance from the older pros, Bruno’s experience, Fabio’s experience, Lee Wallace, James Tavernier, Danny Wilson, whoever is playing. Everyone can learn from each other.

“But Bruno is a fantastic addition to the squad and his experience and his presence has definitely made a difference.”
