PEDRO CAIXINHA isn’t concerned that Rangers fired a blank against Hearts as he looks for ways to break down stubborn Premiership defences.

The Light Blues were held to a goalless draw at Ibrox on Saturday as they fell five points off the pace in the Premiership.

The trip to Ross County on Sunday could prove equally as tricky for Caixinha’s side but the Portuguese is confident Rangers will learn from their experience against Hearts.

He said: “Since we arrived, I think this is the third time we have finished a game without scoring one goal, so it is not a normal thing. In all the teams I manage, it is not that normal to end up games without scoring goals.

“We not only controlled the game, we had total domination of the game in all moments of the game and all aspects of the game.

“Sometimes when we were analysis the opponent, especially in the second half, they were playing with a line of seven at the back. That makes things difficult for us and we need to understand.

“One point from the previous game was about being balanced in the attacking position in order for us to attack more aggressively and we know that when we lose the ball we are not going to concede counter-attacks.

“Now, we need to understand that that point is OK so we need to be aggressive in order to attack spaces when those spaces are not existing. So that’s what we need to look for.

“If you analyse the opponents, your opponents are also analysing you and they might say ‘Hibs tried to put in some counter-attacks and they did it. But against Hearts they didn’t so that means that they are more balanced. Now if we defend with a back six or back seven, it will put some more difficulties on them.

“They think like this and we try to work in that direction in order for the team to feel more comfortable and understand that we need to all the time keep looking for our team dynamics.”

It has been a disappointing start to the season for Rangers as they followed up the win over Motherwell with a defeat to Hibernian before last weekend’s Hearts stalemate.

But Caixinha is determined to take the positives from the performances as he strives for further improvement at Ibrox.

“The negative is always about when you don’t win,” he told RangersTV.

“Here at this massive club, you are coached to win, you have demands to win all the time.

“But we always try to see the other side, what is behind the curtain. And what’s behind the curtain is one analysis, one reflection without an emotional side and trying to know in which points the team needs to improve.”
