ST JOHNSTONE have secured an awards double after Tommy Wright and Rangers loanee Michael O'Halloran were named Ladbrokes Premiership manager and player of the month for August respectively.

Saints have begun the season in terrific form, picking up three consecutive wins against Kilmarnock, Motherwell and Partick Thistle before impressively holding champions Celtic to a draw at Parkhead.

Wright's side, who finished fourth last term, currently sit in joint second place in the table, two points behind leaders Aberdeen

O'Halloran has rediscovered his best form since returning to McDiarmid Park on loan from Ibrox in the summer, scoring four goals in four games including a double against Motherwell.

The 26-year-old struggled for game time with the Gers last season, making just 16 league appearances and failing to find the net.

He has since been told by Light Blues boss Pedro Caixinha that he is 'not my type of player' and 'not the type of player Rangers needs'.
