MICHAEL O'Halloran's superb early season form was rewarded by the SPFL on Tuesday as the on-loan Rangers winger picked up the Ladbrokes Premiership player of the month award for August.

The 26-year-old cut a frustrated figure as he struggled for game time at Ibrox last season, but has notched four goals in four league games since returning to St Johnstone this summer.

An opening day winner against Kilmarnock was followed by a double against Motherwell and another decisive strike at home to Partick Thistle, before Saints held Celtic to a draw in Glasgow to match the champions' early season form.
