BARRY FERGUSON hopes winger Jamie Walker can get over the disappointment of missing out on his move to Rangers and hit the heights for Hearts once again.

Walker will remain at Tynecastle until at least the turn of the year after Hearts stood firm in their bid to fend off interest from the Light Blues.

Gers boss Pedro Caixinha could make a move to bring Walker to Ibrox in January and former captain Ferguson said: “The transfer window has shut, the move to Rangers hasn’t happened, so he has to knuckle down.

“He needs to play really well between now and the start of January when the transfer window opens again.

“Then we need to see where that takes him and whether he goes to Rangers or not.

“I do think he would have been an excellent signing for Rangers. I like him every time I see him and I think he’s something that Rangers are missing just now.

“But he needs to get the move out of his head and just concentrate on playing for Hearts just now.”
