DECLAN JOHN reckons it was good to talk at Auchenhowie this week as Rangers look to recover from their Old Firm defeat.

Light Blues boss Pedro Caixinha adopted a ‘what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas’ stance when questioned about murmurings of discontent in his ranks.

And he expressed his confidence that the Gers could get back to winning ways when they face Hamilton in the Premiership this evening.

John was the final arrival of the summer transfer window and the left-back has no doubt that Rangers will react in the right way against Accies.

He said: “Of course [we are better for it], especially when we are having the meetings about the games and all the stuff we have done good and all the stuff we have done bad. We have got to put that into every game now.

“At the end of the day, the manager is going to show his feelings. The meetings we have had have been about the games. We are just looking forward to [the game].

“In football you have got to talk as a team and play as a team. It is always good to give a bit of something on the pitch, whether you are telling them to do this or they have done something wrong. That is only going to be good for the team, especially going forward this season.”

After missing the defeat to Celtic through injury, John could return to the starting line-up at the SuperSeal Stadium tonight.

The defender has made two appearances against Partick Thistle since agreeing a switch from Cardiff until the end of the campaign.

And he is pleased with the welcome that he has received north of the border as he looks to make an impact at Ibrox this term.

John said: “If you look at the new signings, we have 11 new signings this season. It does take time to gel.

“I have only been here two or three weeks and I have settled in quite well. All the boys are talking in the changing room, on the training pitch and on the pitch for the games.

“I feel welcome. It is a good group of lads in there and they have made me feel really welcome. I am happy with the way it is going.

“If the team is playing together, at the end of the day that is only going to be good for the club and the team.

“All the boys are together on the pitch, we are all together in training. Like I said, that is only going to be good for the team going forward.”

Rangers head to Hamilton eight points adrift of Celtic in the Premiership standings after a mixed start to the campaign in recent weeks.

The pressure is firmly on Caixinha and his players as they attempt to piece together a sustained run of form for the first time.

The Accies clash is the final fixture before the international break and John is confident it can be the starting point for a purple patch for the Gers.

He said: “You don’t go into a game expecting anything less than a win. At the end of the day, you want to win every game you play in.

“If you look at the fixtures, there are a lot of games where we could grab three points, definitely, whether it is away or home. We are going to be working hard in training to try and win every game.

“You have got Celtic and Aberdeen at the top but at the end of the day it is still quite early in the season. People jump to stuff before the season has really even started.

“There are a lot of games to go and the games we have got, we can definitely get the three points in them.”
