RANGERS striker Kenny Miller has been told he won’t play against Hamilton Accies tonight as boss Pedro Caixinha bids for a crucial Premiership win.

The 37-year-old was left out of the squad for the Betfred Cup tie with Partick Thistle earlier this month and started on the bench for the defeat to Celtic last weekend.

SportTimes understands Miller will not be part of the group that Caixinha takes to the SuperSeal Stadium and he is unlikely to be in the travelling party that heads to Canada on Tuesday ahead of the Eusebio Cup clash with Benfica.

Miller has been told that he is free to join up with Graeme Murty’s side on Sunday when they make the trip to Brentford for the latest match of their new games programme.

The striker could still have a part to play for Caixinha this term but he won’t be involved against Martin Canning’s side as the Gers look to get back to winning ways in the top flight.

Boss Caixinha adopted a ‘what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas’ stance when questioned about a team meeting and the togetherness of his ranks earlier this week.

The Portuguese has come under increasing pressure following a poor start to the campaign but it will be results on the park rather than issues off it that will ultimately determine his Ibrox future.

Comparisons have been drawn between the Miller situation and the stand-off between Barry Ferguson and Paul Le Guen as the Frenchman lasted just months in the Gers hotseat.

But it is understood that the focus at Ibrox is on improving results in the coming weeks rather than what the future holds for Miller.

And Caixinha will now hope that he gets the right reaction from his side when they face Accies in the final game before the international break.
