GRAEME MURTY is confident striker Alfredo Morelos can get back on the goal trail sooner rather than later this season.

The Colombian scored eight goals in six appearances for Rangers earlier this term but hasn’t netted since the Premiership draw with Partick Thistle in September.

Morelos missed a handful of chances in the defeat to Hamilton last weekend as his barren run extended to a ninth outing in Light Blue.

But interim boss Murty is pleased with the application the 21-year-old has shown as he attempts to add to his tally at Ibrox.

“It’s a possibility,” he said when asked if he could leave Morelos out of the side.

“The level of support he got when he was scoring goals is the same level of support he’s getting now.

“It’s our job as staff and players to put him in that goal scoring position more often.

“It’s a case of stop thinking about it so much and just trusting himself a bit more, we see him doing it in training every day.

“When he gets a goal I believe he’ll go on and score more and more because he has some fantastic attributes.

“We just need to put him in a place where he reacts. In finishing in training he’s striking through the ball really cleanly.

“Sometimes when centre forwards haven’t score they try and guide the ball instead of just releasing and letting go. He’s still doing that, it’s an indication he wants to score.”
