BRUNO ALVES will miss Rangers’ matches with Brazilian sides Atletico Mineiro and Corinthians as he continues his recovery from a calf injury.

The defender was forced off early in the first half of the Old Firm clash at Parkhead last month and wasn’t part of the Light Blues squad that made the trip to Florida on Saturday morning.

Alves has endured a stop-start season at Ibrox and cast doubt over his future in Light Blue as he sets his sights on a spot at the World Cup this summer.

Boss Graeme Murty said: “He is staying in Portugal. He has a significant problem or disruption with his calf so he won’t be in America.

“He will receive treatment in Portugal. I have no real timescale on how long he might be out for.

“I will have a closer brief with our medical staff over the coming days.”
