JAMIE MURPHY hopes a dream move to Rangers will help him earn a Scotland cap call in the future.

The former Motherwell forward clinched a switch back across the border on Saturday as he put pen-to-paper on a loan deal with the Light Blues.

Murphy has enjoyed considerable success with Sheffield United and Brighton in recent years but has yet to make his full international debut despite being called into two squads in 2016.

The striker became the second signing of the window for boss Graeme Murty and the move is set to be turned into a permanent one in the summer.

Now the 28-year-old is eager to make a bid for a place in the national setup under the guidance of Gordon Strachan’s successor at Hampden.

Murphy said: “It is something I have always looked to try and get caps for Scotland. I am disappointed that it hasn’t happened so far.

“I was doing well in England and in Scotland but I just need to keep working hard. Maybe if I am successful at Rangers I can see where that takes me.
