RUSSELL MARTIN was pleased Rangers followed up their win over Aberdeen with a hard-fought victory against Ross County on Sunday.

Graeme Murty’s side regained second spot in the Premiership by seeing off the Dons at Ibrox in midweek.

And the Gers ensured there was no slip-up in the Highlands as goals from Daniel Candeias and Jason Cummings clinched another crucial three points.

Martin said: “We are all extremely happy to back the Aberdeen game up with another good result. There is a tinge of disappointment about the second half performance at times as we were a little bit open and a little bit disjointed.

“But, in the first half, we played some really good stuff and the only disappointment coming in was we didn’t have more goals to kill the game a bit earlier.

“But, I think we have to be delighted. The manager challenged us before the game to back up the result against Aberdeen and the standard we set.

“We’ve come up here and got a result, and I think in previous games we haven’t been doing that against these kind of teams.

“So it is a good three points and we can keep rolling now and get momentum building. We’ve won the first two games of the New Year so we can all be happy.”

Martin has partnered David Bates in both matches since he made the move from Norwich on loan until the end of the campaign.

And the Scotland defender was frustrated their efforts weren’t rewarded with a shut-out as David N’Gog netted from the spot late on.

He told RangersTV: “I’m loving it. It’s an easy group to come into and feel welcomed.

“It’s a brilliant football club and I am enjoying being here every day with the facilities and the training.

“The staff are great and we have had two good wins, so it is all going well.

“Batesy as well is a really honest boy – he listens and he has really good attributes. The relationship we have at the minute is growing, and we have done well together.

“We’re disappointed not to keep a clean sheet [on Sunday] with the penalty, as we probably deserved one.”
