THE 'Beast from the East' has struck, claiming three midweek Ladbrokes Premiership games as its victims.

Heavy snowfall began to batter Scotland yesterday, leading to the postponement of several lower league games on Tuesday including Dundee United's Championship clash with Queen of the South.

Tuesday's two top-flight encounters survived the weather though, as Rangers recorded a big win away to St Johnstone and Hearts played out a 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock in Edinburgh

Greenock Morton also managed to host Livingston in the Championship, falling to a 1-0 defeat at Cappielow.

Hundreds of schools have been shut around the country with an amber weather warning in place across much of the country.
