Rangers 2-3 Hibernian

After starting their Premiership campaign with a win at Motherwell, Pedro Caixinha's side put themselves on the back foot on the second weekend of the season. Alfredo Morelos gave the Gers a perfect start but that was as good as it got as Simon Murray equalised and Ryan Jack was controversially sent off. That wrong call proved to be the turning point and an own goal from James Tavernier and strike from Vykintas Slivka clinched the win before a late consolation from the Gers right-back.

Rangers 0-2 Celtic

This proved to be Caixinha's final Old Firm experience and the Portuguese was perhaps fortunate that he didn't find himself on the end of another heavy derby defeat. The game may have been level at the break but Celtic's pressure and superiority paid off as Tom Rogic and Leigh Griffiths scored on 50 and 65 minutes. Once again, there was nothing for the Ibrox crowd to cheer as Rangers were comfortably beaten.

Rangers 0-2 Hamilton

Graeme Murty had recorded wins over Hearts and Partick Thistle after stepping in to replace Caixinha but a third successive victory once again evaded the Light Blues. A series of missed chances cost Rangers dear as David Templeton capitalised on a mistake from Ross McCrorie and Darren Lyon netted late on. It was a historic day for Accies but a nightmare 90 minutes for Murty.

Rangers 1-3 St Johnstone

Like in the game against Hibs, Morelos got Rangers off and running as he netted after just five minutes. The lead was short-lived, however, as Blair Alston levelled from range and Rangers never recovered. Denny Johnstone and Graham Cummins compounded Murty’s woes as his side produced an abject performance and suffered another Premiership setback.

Rangers 1-2 Hibernian

Neil Lennon led his side to a remarkable double as Hibs stunned Ibrox for a second time. John McGinn gave the visitors the lead just before the break, but when Sean Goss curled home a terrific free-kick Ibrox was poised for a grandstand finale. Just seconds later, Tavernier was adjudged to have fouled Scott Allan and Jamie Maclaren converted from the spot to leave Rangers defeated and deflated.

Rangers 2-3 Celtic

Ibrox was expectant for the third Old Firm clash of the season and goals from Josh Windass and Daniel Candeias, either side of Rogic’s equaliser, had them in a promising position. But Moussa Dembele netted before half time and Rangers couldn’t capitalise on Jozo Simunovic’s red card. Odsonne Eduoard won it for Celtic as any talk of a potential title bid was put to bed.

Rangers 0-1 Kilmarnock

Murty needed a response, both in terms of the performance and the result, from his players but he got neither on a forgettable afternoon. Former Light Blues striker Kris Boyd scored the only goal of the game to notch another impressive win for Steve Clarke’s side. Rangers, meanwhile, had an unwanted place in the history books.
